Lorrie Goldstein’s column today discusses Ontario’s anti-democratic Green Energy Act and its opposition by environmentalist Tom Adams, whose two YouTube videos are a must-see.
McGuinty’s original Green Energy Act contained provisions for overruling our Charter rights to allow government agents to inspect of our private homes for energy and water usage any time of the day or night. Adams explains how the Green Energy Act, in its original form, was fully supported by the Suzuki Foundation, and many other “green” groups, forming the Green Energy Act Alliance, which helped to shape the Green Energy Act.
When the Act was introduced in the Legislature, the Green Energy Act Alliance, including the Suzuki Foundation, endorsed it wholeheartedly, referring to it as “world-class”. Adams provides a list of the organizations that fully supported the Act with its anti-privacy measures still in place.
The good news: McGuinty and his thugs were shamed into dropping the Big Brother thuggery provisions.
As Adams says, “There’s bad news. What McGuinty left in the Act is worse.”
Hmmm…Secretive government departments shielded from citizen and legislative oversight and accountability, setting special energy tax rates and no scrutiny of the tax revenue collected…As Mr. Adams says: “Follow the funding.”
Just like with Canada’s misnamed “human rights” commissions, the Green Energy Act — by its noble-sounding name alone — has fooled people into thinking its all positive. As one commenter to Adams’ video says, “Ontarians really need to wake up and smell the KY Jelly.” That’s right, we’re being shafted by this corruption.

Those guys sound just about on par with the wanabe conservatives we unfortunately have here in Alberta. Since these guys got elected our Alberta Advantage has flown the coop. I hope you folks in Ont. have better luck than we did in your next election.
Unfortunately our next election won’t be any time soon enough for me. I just voted yesterday for my choice(s) for the Ontario PC party leadership — 1st time (and last) for joining a political party (they hound you to death when you join). If Christine Elliott (wife of federal Finance Minister Jim Flaherty) wins the leadership, we’ll be stuck with the HRCs as they are — she seems quite cozy in her attitude towards them.
With the eHealth scandal here, you’d think it would be easy to unseat the Lieberals, but if we don’t get a TRUE conservative choice, what’s the point in voting conservative? We’d be stuck with Lieberal-lite — like Harper’s government, or apparently like what you’re stuck with in Alberta.
