Actually I couldn’t care less about Halloween. It’s the politically correct and perpetually offended control freaks that make me want to scream.
Holloween is one pagan holiday we can all do better without.
All the commercialism aside, the genre is too entrenched into the North American psyche to be dismissed. As I finish my 9 weeks here in the states training, I’ve realized that Halloween is part of the American holiday celebration that kicks off celebrations through Thanksgiving to Christmas. This is definitely one celebration that will not die off in Canada, being so close to the States. As long as our distinct culture is tied to the corporate machinations of our biggest trading partner, Holloween will continue to thrive as an event in Canada, even if it means more for the trick-or-treaters than those who believe pagan rituals must go the way of the Dodo.
