Federal Environment Minister Jim Prentice has summoned his provincial and territorial counterparts to disclose Ottawa’s plans for next month’s international summit in Copenhagen.
Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty and Quebec Premier Jean Charest have already told Prentice they want ambitious greenhouse gas reduction targets for the conference, where leaders of 180 countries gather Dec. 7 to hammer out a successor accord to the 1997 Kyoto Protocol.

Both premiers are worried that Canada could face trade sanctions from trading partners in the European Union if Ottawa’s goals are too lax.
