The anti-Israel ‘Rights & Democracy’ funded by Canadians

An NGO in name only — set up and funded by the government. Naturally Iffy and the Libranos support this group. Go figure.

A very nice dismantling of Mr Flag! God’s Balls! I hate the stale old tactic of calling people uneducated when they dare to disagree with you. Is it just me or does pretty much every argument with someone on the left include some suggestion (on their part) of “you need to educate yourself”? I suppose it comes from the liberal delusion that goes something like: You are not a liberal because you are intelligent, you are intelligent because you are a liberal. Sigh.
Anyway, good work Natasha

Uhm, Rights & Democracy was created by Parliament, reports to Parliament and its President and Board are appointed by government, therefore it’s NOT an NGO! Rights & Democracy does not call itself an NGO, if you read its website. It is an independent, non-partisan, PUBLIC institution. Only people like you call it an NGO, which is completely misinformed. Do a little reading yourself, Natasha, beyond the misinformed rants of Beryl Wiseman and Ezra Levant. Without knowing anything about R&D, they label its staff haters of Israel because they support human rights for Palestinians. Such an allegation is, quite frankly, appalling.

My reply is here.

Dear Natasha,

Your claim that Rights & Democracy is anti-Israel is quite frankly uneducated. You should really expand your reading beyond Ezra Levant. Rights & Democracy simply believes in universal human rights, which are the right of Israelis and Palestinians. If you disagree with that, than that’s another matter entirely.

Dear John,

It is you who could use a little education instead of the R&D propaganda you read. My main issue with R&D is that it should not be government funded. It’s called an NGO — Non Governmental Organization. Such organizations are called that because they are not supported or funded by the government — it’s that simple. If they want to continue their little Israel hatefest, I say more power to them; but let them raise their own money and stop picking the pocket of taxpayers. I don’t want to support an Israel hatefest, which is exactly what R&D is all about.

Now, if you’re all done reading R&D’s propaganda, there’s all kinds of information that demonstrates R&D’s resistance to transparency and accountability, not to mention the funding of some very questionable groups, one in particular being a designated terrorist organization.
Read: Rights and Democracy: Harper right to clean house and Besieged head of rights group says staff funded anti-Israel organizations.
