You picked the wrong day to mess with the ecosystem, plastic boy…

The Church of Climate Scientology’s nirvana:

Audi: Proving that fascism never really dies.

via: Tim Blair

UPDATE: Michelle Malkin has this to say about the “Green Police” ad:

Some of you think Audi’s “Green Police” ad that ran during the Super Bowl last night was brilliant satire. Others were creeped out. Count me in the creeped-out camp.

I was more of the opinion that it was a somewhat humourous failure. I say “failure” because if the point is to make you want to rush out and buy an Audi, then how the hell does using fascism help? And humourous — because it was so over the top.

However, commenter Kelly (below) agrees with Michelle Malkin on the creepiness of this ad. And Malkin provides the context for judging the Audi ad, right from their own website. Check it out. I think they’re right — it’s creepy; fascism always is.

Audi is just riding the wave..!
They’re making light of how absurd the anti-Co2 crowd has become.

Greenies should beware, when they start laughing ..at you.. instead of
..with you.. it’s time to throw in the towel.

Absolutely brilliant, they really don’t get how stupid they are

I realize they are trying to sell cars, but “laughing while your neighbors are arrested” doesn’t strike me as a positive buying motive. Creepy.

It could be Audi is using a type of humourous negative advertising hoping it promotes their vehicle.

A pub here used to do that, but more effectively. Joe Kool’s here in London used to run a series of negative ads making fun of themselves mostly. Where I think the Audi commercial screws up is they’re making fun of the whole green industry and still trying to promote their vehicle as green. Dumb…
