“I’m not a doctor, but I played one in the NHS”

Read: ‘Fantasist’ landed medic’s job after claiming he worked in fictional hospital from TV show ER

Greig Ferguson got a job as a nurse after telling health bosses he had worked at the County General Hospital in Chicago, Illinois.

He then paraded around the corridors of a NHS treatment centre proudly displaying a badge marked ‘Dr Greig Ferguson MD’.

Gee, perhaps they should have picked up a telephone, made a few inquiries before hiring him…

Can I suggest that you read the story again, might be best to do it SLOWLY…all references were taken up and confirmed…I personally was saved by this nurse who identified that I needed emergency surgery. I was turned away by my own Dr that morning who said there was nothing wrong with me so I then went to the nurse led unit & was seen right away. Give the guy a break, theres obviously more to this story…

May I suggest you read the story. Yes, he’s a qualified nurse. So what? He was walking around pretending to be a doctor, which he was not. He lied in order to get the position he has. He said he had qualified as a doctor at County General Hospital in Chicago, Illinois — only one problem: It doesn’t exist, except on TV. And so they checked a few references? Had the NHS been more thorough, they would have found out that he received his non-existent physician qualifications at a fictional hospital.

I’m glad he helped you, but that doesn’t excuse him for lying or for his employer’s lack of diligence.
