First the bad news…
London Ontario is Dhimmi Central:
Due to capacity constraints at the University of Western Ontario, the original venue for the event, we had booked the London Convention Centre (LCC,) London’s premiere conference facility. On Tuesday, I received a phone call from the LCC telling us that our venue had been pulled, and that Mark Steyn would not be permitted to speak there. The reason offered by the LCC was that they had received pressure from local Islamic groups, and they didn’t want to alienate their Muslim clients.
Why doesn’t someone with a spine tell these people there is a simple solution? If you don’t like Mark Steyn and can’t stand to hear what he has to say, then don’t go! Sheesh — how dumb can people get.
Anyway, the good news is Steyn will be giving his speech:

Due to the size of the new venue, there are inevitably added costs to this event that hadn’t previously been budgeted for. If you aren’t attending the speech, please consider donating via PayPal to offset costs.
UPDATE: LCC manager Lori Da Silva — on “A” news — claimed there was no contract to have Mark Steyn speak; they realized AFTER booking the event that they couldn’t accommodate it on such short notice. I call BULLSHIT! That’s not what Andrew Lawton was told…

I wonder just how many calls objected to the meeting, or how many muslim clients actually exist. Spineless caving to perceived pressure does not even begin to describe the folks at LCC.
You would think the LCC would be happy with the business. I forgot it still existed to tell you the truth. Just another one of London’s useless white elephants.
next time a muslim group decides to hold a meeting or whatever get all your friends to call and say they think it is a bad idea and it would hurt their feelings.
Wonder what sort of action would be taken?
I don’t like opera so I never buy a ticket to listen to it.
I do not demand that others follow me in not buying one.
I do not like Indian curry or Japanese suchi so I don’t eat at restaurants that have these exclusively.
I do not put up signs telling anyone else that they can’t eat them.
I do not like liberal ideals so I don’t vote liberal but I would never tell someone they can’t vote the way they want.
So if you can’t accept the idea of someone not thinking the way you do, don’t come to my home and demand that I give up my right to have a choice in my thinking in my lifestyle.
If you don’t want free speech and a free mind to make your own (not your husbands, not you religious leader) then stay in your own home and live the way you want. Do not demand that I change just for you.
I am Canadian and I love Canada. If you can’t live with that go home and leave my country alone.

Well they seem to think this act of bowing to vociferous blasphemy-based calls for censorship won’t offend (outrage) non-Muslim clients, don’t they? Does the LCC take normative non combative civil Canadians as chumps? Do they think we will allow our rights to be trampled to placate combative intolerant pressure group hegemony?
I find refusing to defend the traditional Canadian values of fair comment and free expression in the face of belligerent intolerant regressive intimidation groups to be the most offensive type of civil atrocity.
Right now they couldn’t get me to a LLC event even if they invited me to pee on the place if it was on fire.
Another incident of “us and them” socially divisive politics brought to you by your local Islamist contempt for Canadian values.
