So much for looking out for taxpayers’ interest, Mr Fontana et al. They’ve ignored a staff recommendation to pull the plug:
River Road, according to city staff, has lost money in each of the last 10 years, totalling about $1 million since 2001. That has dragged down the city’s total golf operations, which also include Thames Valley and Fanshawe.
Why even bother to pay city staff to advise you if you’re going to ignore them? More bloody money wasted.
Hey, heads up, city council: Golf is not an essential service; it’s a stupid game, nothing more.
