Via Sun News:
Since launching on April 18, Quebecor Media Inc. has concluded agreements with a number of cable and satellite providers to offer Sun News to millions of Canadians. We have tried, unsuccessfully, to reach an agreement with Bell TV — the owners and operators of CTV News Channel, the Business News Network and CP24.
As it would be unfair to our paying customers for Bell to continue to offer the station without a fair agreement between our two companies, we have asked them to suspend broadcasting the signal. It should be noted that Sun News is seeking lower subscription fees than CTV News Channel, the Business News Network and CP24. As Bell owns these channels, it obviously gives themselves an undue advantage.

And here: Screw You Bell!
As long as we’re telling Bell-hell stories… Our most recent run-in with them happened when we’d sold our previous home and were temporarily “of no fixed address” (in between permanent homes). My husband wanted to keep our same phone number to have it re-instated when we finally found a place, since that number was connected to all his business dealings. He called Bell and was assured that was no problem — for a small fee, of course, and for a limited period of time (approximately 60 days).
About a month later when we’d bought a house and were preparing to move in, he called Bell to arrange for them to connect the service, giving us back our old phone number. Well, guess what? Suddenly, they couldn’t promise we’d get that same number. He explained the situation and that they’d charged him a fee to provide that very service, and now they were reneging?! The discussion with the Bell rep dragged on, and although my hubby was quite calm (from listening to his end of the conversation), after about 30 minutes of getting nowhere with them, he said, “Listen, I’m beginning to lose my patience with you.” He proceeded to inform her that either they live up to their original commitment — which he paid for — or he was going with Rogers for our home phone service. Naturally, that got their attention, and he got what he was promised.
I have my own Bell-hell story, which involved putting the CRTC (they are good for something once in a while) on their ass, in order to force them to live up to their commitment to me — their customer. But that’s for another time, perhaps…

Few things in a free society are as important as our rights of ‘free speech’ and ‘fair comment’.
Without these we are neither democratic nor, in fact, civilized.
As trustees of the infrastructure that are held to uphold and promote the written and spoken word in this great country, Bell Media had best recognize the importance of that trusteeship and the principles that they must uphold, before it feels the full wrath of the public and of government regulators on this issue.
Bell Media: You will NOT escape your responsibility to SUN MEDIA in this matter, or it should (and will) cost you dearly to quickly learn said responsibility.
Bell, like CBC, has been a government protected pseudo-monopoly for so long the snotty attitude and customer abuse is genetic.
Pulling my phone service from them was the wisest (and cost effective) thing I ever did – next to canceling my subscription to the local Asper MSM rag.
The monopolies over cell phone use here in Canada is absurd. Everybody and their dog can get a cell phone and have 500 minute sim cards for $20 to $40 in Afghanistan. We are so getting screwed over.
