CBC & its “neutral” ombudsman Lapointe to apologize soon… zzzzzzz
Ontario Provincial Police Commissioner Chris Lewis has endorsed Toronto Police Chief Bill Blair’s account of the 911 calls Mayor Rob Ford made after a This Hour Has 22 Minutes comedian surprised him in his driveway in October.
Blair privately asked Lewis to review the 911 tapes after the ombudsman for the CBC said Blair’s account, which backed Ford, might not be truthful. [...]
In his review of the CBC’s stories, ombudsman Kirk LaPointe said Blair’s account could not be trusted because the chief “was not a disinterested party” in the matter. The police service, LaPointe wrote, “depends on budget deliberations headed by the mayor,” and “this year’s police budget that averted layoffs was reached only in the week before this incident.”
A spokesperson for Blair, Mark Pugash, had blasted LaPointe’s comments, saying it was “offensive” to suggest budget concerns might prompt Blair to lie.

If you need further confirmation that CBC ombudsman Kirk LaPointe is anything but a CBC butt-coverer, read his latest convoluted white-wash (see here) of the obvious conflict of interest of their BC legislative reporter Stephen Smart (see earlier post here).

Surprise! I think that this is a very appropriate description of the CBC and its ethics…
I won’t hold my breath waiting for an apology from either the taxpayer-funded CBC or its “watchdog.” Defund the CBC — now.
